Airbus Selects Crane to Supply Door Control and Monitoring System for New Beluga Airlifter
Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a segment of Crane Co. (NYSE:CR), was chosen by Airbus to provide the Door Control and Monitoring System (DCMS) for the new Beluga airlifter, a special derivative of the A330 widebody aircraft.
The Crane DCMS will monitor, communicate and control the position of the main cargo doors, as well as monitor the position of the aft cargo, bulk cargo and belly doors. In addition, the DCMS will communicate with other aircraft systems as well as to door-and cargo bay-mounted status panels.
The new Beluga was designed to support production ramp-up of the A350 XWB, and is planned to enter service in mid-2019.
Crane is the technology leader in proximity sensing systems around the world with over 12,000 systems delivered and in service.
We look forward to working with Airbus to bring our high-accuracy sensing technology to the Beluga program. The new Beluga, with its extra capacity and unique transport capabilities, is an impressive program which we are pleased to be part of. We have worked with Airbus on a variety of sensing and control systems for the A320, A330/340 and A380, and are proud to have received an outstanding rating in the 2014 Supplier Rating for our performance on these programs.
