Crane Supports Historic COMAC C919 Rollout in Shanghai

Chinese manufacturer's new narrow-body jet debuted November 2

On November 2, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd. (COMAC) unveiled the C919 to the world in a historic rollout. The narrow-body jet is the largest commercial airliner designed and built in China to date. It’s designed to be safer, more comfortable, and more efficient. Total orders for the C919 are now up to 517 from more than 21 customers.

As a key strategic partner to COMAC, Crane provides multiple products from our Fluid, Landing, Power, and Sensing solutions on this aircraft. We supply the the Door Signals System and Brake Control and Monitoring System, which also delivers integrated tire pressure and brake temperature monitoring functionality, for the jet. Our power products, which include Auto-Transformer Rectifier Units (ATRU), DC-DC Converters, EMI Filters, and Power Conditioning Modules, are known for their high reliability, allowing our customers to rest easier as designs go to production. Crane also provides high-accuracy Fuel Flow Transmitters for the COMAC's gas turbine engines. 

From Crane Aerospace & Electronics, Asia Business Development VP Eddy Wong, Sensing VP Rick Jones, and Crane China President Geoff Ziebart attended the rollout ceremony. 

Key Chinese officials participating in the ceremony were Mr. Ma Kai, Vice-Premier; Mr. Han Zheng, CPC Secretary of Shanghai; Mr. Li Jiaxiang, head of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC); and Mr. Miao Wei, minister of Industry and Information Technology. Also in attendance were Mr. Yang Xiong, mayor of Shanghai, Mr. Jin Zhuanglong, chairman & CPC secretary of COMAC, and the thousands of guests that participated in the ceremony. Mr. He Dongfeng, president of COMAC, hosted the ceremony.

After the rollout ceremony, COMAC arranged a private tour for the Crane delegation of their SADRI testing center and iron bird. The Chief of the Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute (SADRI), Mr. Lui Wengong, was the group's tour guide through the facility - a great honor. 

The Chinese aerospace industry is the fastest-growing in the world. We congratulate COMAC on this major milestone and look forward to more great things ahead.
