SmartStem® Wireless Tire Pressure System Receives EASA Certification on Bombardier DHC-8 Aircraft

Crane Aerospace & Electronics has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for the SmartStem Wireless Tire Pressure System for Bombardier DHC-8 regional aircraft. The DHC-8 models covered under the new STC include the 100, 200, 300 and 400 series.

With this STC, EASA joins the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in certifying Crane’s SmartStem technology on all Bombardier DHC-8 models. This STC allows European operators to check tire pressure readings in seconds without risking valve damage or gas loss, dramatically simplifying the preflight checklist and saving money and time.

Crane is in the process of certifying SmartStem tire pressure sensors on additional business, regional, and large commercial aircraft with multiple regulatory authorities to meet customer demand.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics is demonstrating SmartStem technology, along with other power, fluid, sensing, and landing solutions, at Hall 4, Stand E70 at this week’s Farnborough Airshow.
